CHRIS SUTON has used his RecordSport column to talk about Scott Sinclair after the Englishman came on and scored against Partick Thistle on Wednesday night at Celtic Park.

Sinclair had not been picked for a squad before then since Motherwell away at the start of the season. He went from first team player to dropping off the face of the earth.

His performances didn’t warrant first team starts but many felt he was still good enough to be included in the matchday squad over some players who sat on the bench.

Chris Sutton has called out some of the Celtic fans who have been criticising Neil Lennon for not including Sinclair in the team and suggested they are the same fans who were screaming Sinclair needed dropped last term.

“I know there’s been some fans wondering this year why he’s not been involved but I’d be willing to bet they were among those giving him stick last season.

“He was a shadow of himself at times and it led to frustration. Yet his absence was used against Lennon earlier this season and some times players look better the less they actually play.

“Those criticisms have gone quiet now Celtic are firing on all cylinders but perhaps Sinclair sees what is happening and wants to be part of things again.”

Is this a fair representation of some or all of the Celtic support with regards to Sinclair? Perhaps some of them but with our ear to the ground we suggest it was more to do with Sinclair not getting on the bench ahead of Lewis Morgan who isn’t showing a great deal at the moment.
