The World Cup has provided some shocks so far and Celtic players at the competition have been at the forefront of them.

The good news for Celtic and their World Cup stars is they’ve all made it through to the knockout stages of the World Cup with their countries in what can only be seen as an incredible achievement.

Daizen Maeda was the last of the four to go through on Thursday evening; joining Aaron Mooy, Josip Juranovic and CCV.

Japan have shocked the competition by helping knockout Germany from the tournament. Croatia got in ahead of Belgium, Australia bet the odds to get of their group and CCV played a blinder in his one and only start to help the US to a match winning clean sheet.

It’s great news for the bhoys and better news for Celtic as they pocket more money for each player staying longer in Qatar.

The bad news is, none of them will be ready to take on Aberdeen when the domestic game restarts on December 17. The players need a two week break in between their final game and picking back up for their country. It’s unlikely any of them will feature at Pittodrie, the biggest blow is not having CCV.

Starfelt and Jenz will have to deputise in the American’s absence while Ralston will assume the right back role. Cal Mac is on his way back to full fitness so not having Mooy shouldn’t be a big deal if the captain makes it back into the side.
