CELTIC DEFENDER Carl Starfelt has been called up to the Swedish national squad for their matches against Belgium and Azerbaijan later this month.

It’s a tough start to the European Championship Qualifiers for Starfelt’s country on Friday 24th of March.

Belgium travel to Stockholm, looking to get their first win under new boss Domenico Tedesco, formally of RB Leipzig.

The country has underperformed over the past few years, but FIFA still ranks them the fourth-best country in the world.

Sweden then host Azerbaijan a few days later, with another 19.45 kick-off scheduled for the Monday.

Carl Starfelt has come on a lot this season, but has had his injury problems which saw him miss much of the Champions League campaign. He’s not been a regular starter for his country in recent years, and has even played out of position in midfield at times, but his current form could give manager, Janne Andersson, something to think about.
