The Green Brigade proudly displayed a photo of a banner which was allowed into Celtic Park after months of supports advocating for supports flags inside the ground.

The banner which had the famous Tommy Burns quote about playing for a people and a cause was draped on the top tier, just below the standing section where the Green Brigade reside; a nice touch for the players coming out of the tunnel on matchdays.

However, on Thursday night, before Celtic’s embarrassing collapse at the hands of Sparta Prague, there was no banner to be seen.

The images going around social media from journalists and the screenshot below of BT Sports footage shows the banner is not out.

It appears to have been rolled up and locked before the game.

If this is the case, we’re wondering why that had to happen. Is there a UEFA rule prohibiting the banner?

Considering we’ve seen other teams take advantage of the space inside empty grounds to facilitate supporter groups, surely it shouldn’t have been a problem. It’s most likely to do with the placement of the Europa League banners, proving once and for all UEFA really don’t care.
