If there was any buzz or feel good factor permeating through some of the Celtic support on Thursday after the appointment of Ange Postecoglou, the Green brigade have brought us back down to earth.

In the lead up to Celtic appointing a new manager, they displayed various banners with censor signs over Dermot Desmond, Peter Lawwell and surprisingly Dominic McKay. The group then turned their attention to the board.

They have kept their heat up on the Celtic board this morning by displaying all the boards faces with a tag line – ‘a board like no other’. The social media tweet claiming the board is unfit for purpose.

Some of Celtic’s serving board have been in place for over 15 years. It’s very unusual for this to happen and it breeds complacency. There’s a strong argument for the board being freshened up. Celtic have been described as an analogue club in a digital age and it’s not far off the truth.

We have a fantastic brand and forward thinkers can get the best out of the club. Dominic McKay talks about modernisation, he knows what we all know, the club have been paralysed by a board resting on their laurels that’s spread to every department of the club.

  1. They are the embarrassment they dont speak for me they are supposed to be fans, no they think they are stars dont know when to stop and are losing a lot of support

    • 100 %…agreed, they’ve systematically drained the spirit out of millions of fans who most of their lives looked UP to the club , but for too long they.ve been looking DOWN on us , massive warning signs for all LOGICAL people to see for several years, but the custodians sat back and made empty jokes regarding the NEWCO at agm.s instead of dealing with the wheels gradually coming off , definitely the most inept bunch of puppets on the planet , taking funds out of the club and replacing IT with rhetorical bollocks “

  3. I agree Theresa, the GB campaigns would carry a bit more weight if they stopped behaving like eejits regarding flares & songs which have nothing to do with football.
These attention seekers do not represent the Celtic support, only themselves.
Ultimately the board brought this on themselves by pandering to them for years now

  4. The appointment is a desperate one. A hit and hope. Thank God for the GB because the majority of Celtic supporters are doormats who sit by silently as these Tory scumbags betray everything the club stands for and accept decisions which weaken the club permanently. I will not return to Celtic Park with these scum bags in charge. I am giving them no more money or time. I wish the new manager all the best. However, he will lose 4 of his first 10 games including a hammering against them. We will be 12-15 points behind by the New Year looking at going a further 3 points adrift after getting beat against them. The noise to get rid of him will be deafening but in the crappy way Celtic are run he will cling on despite poor results until a damaging game against Motherwell, a 3-0 defeat will see him mutually consented. And it will be back to square one. There is a better chance of this happening than him being a Rodgers. Afterall he will be trying to establish himself in year 1 but he does not have time. If he had 2 or 3 seasons, if it was the 1980s maybe but not this season, not now. He will be the Aussie Tony Mowbray. And Celtic have a weak, defeated squad not a good one. Only 4 or 5 players from last season will be involved (thank God) and some of these May be looking at their last days at the club.

  5. Interesting comments – I’m 50/50 on this GB message. The things that give us negative press (flares, any hint the press can pounce on a song etc), not all fans are the same. That said, too many fans – not just our club but clubs everywhere – moan a lot but do nothing or affect to change nothing.
I don’t think McKay should be tarred with this brush yet – he isn’t even officially in charge yet! You cannot just sack a whole board, that’s not how business works. They have been in place for far too long but it will be a case of one of them going at a time. Bankier would be a start. Then at each AGM, you just phase another one out by bringing in more modern, business and football minded people.
As for the team – until such time, the new manager has done nothing wrong. It’s not his fault we are in this mess. The guy isn’t daft; he knows this is his one big shot at making a name for himself and he will bend over backwards to deliver success. Not saying he will succeed but we need to give him time to build his own team, get rid of who wants to leave, develop a conveyer belt from the academy and importantly, be supported in the transfer market! I can see us probably not doing great in Europe and it being an eye opener for Ange. Then we’ll start with some scrappy draws but I’d expect a few wins to start happening – if he gets backing in the transfer market. This is the whole thing – new, youngsters from the academy, sell the deadwood and buy players who know what they’re doing
