The Green Brigade will mark a proud milestone in Celtic’s history tonight, unveiling a special tifo in honour of the 138th anniversary of Celtic’s founding.

The tribute is set to take place ahead of the Europa League clash against FC Midtjylland at the MCH Arena.

The match itself carries weight for Martin O’Neill’s side, who are chasing consecutive victories in Europe for the first time this season. After a mixed start to their Europa League campaign, Celtic currently sit on four points from three matches. A 2-1 win over Sturm Graz in Glasgow last time out reignited their hopes of progressing, following a 1-1 draw away to Red Star Belgrade and a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Braga at Celtic Park.

Midtjylland, however, come into the contest in formidable form. The Danish champions have been perfect so far in the table, taking maximum points from their three fixtures. Wins over Sturm Graz, Nottingham Forest, and Maccabi Tel Aviv have put them top of the table and in control of the section.

For Celtic, tonight is about both performance and pride. While O’Neill’s men will be focused on the footballing task at hand, the atmosphere in the away end promises to be just as significant. The Green Brigade, renowned for their visual displays and vocal backing, have revealed plans for a tifo dedicated to the club’s foundation, a nod to Brother Walfrid’s vision in 1887 and the generations that have followed.

Supporters travelling to Denmark have been encouraged to take part in the display, which will unfold before kick-off. It’s the latest in a long line of Green Brigade efforts to connect the modern-day support with the roots of Celtic’s creation.

As Celtic look to build momentum on the European stage, the evening promises to be one of celebration and reflection, a chance for the supporters to honour 138 years of history, and for the team to try and add another memorable chapter on the pitch.
