The Green Brigade started the day by kicking off their yearly food drive campaign in the face of another fine handed to the club by UEFA for an anti-monarchy banner.

The group put out their go fund me page and asked people to respond by donating to an appeal that will help the most impoverished in the country rather than celebrate the inherited wealth and hierarchy that the monarchy brings.

As we sit on Tuesday evening, the group has already raised £24k plus; almost double that of the fine handed down by UEFA to Celtic.

After the interval, the GB unfurled a banner in the stands that read: ‘Against the hunger and the crown’; a slightly edited lyric from the Fields of Athenry.

The group do the food drive and appeal every year and it’s great to see people donating so early on, using UEFA’s ridiculous fine to make even more money for the poor in Scotland this winter.

The annual food drive before the game is at the beginning of November; earlier than usual due to the World Cup taking place this Christmas period.
