Saying Celtic has had several ups and downs throughout the 2023/24 season is a fair assessment of how it has gone so far.

The Hoops have fallen to some disappointing defeats but the elation of scoring several late winners outweighed such bitter moments.

Although it wasn’t easy at times, the Bhoys brought home the title and stepped up when it mattered, eventually finishing eight points ahead of closest challengers Rangers.

The champions really stepped things up in the last few weeks of the league campaign but throughout, there have been numerous tumultuous periods.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has openly admitted there was an initial sense of awkwardness when he returned to the club and poor early-season form didn’t help his cause.

A 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock in the league cup was not in the gaffer’s script and a goalless draw with St. Johnstone six days later furthered fans’ concerns.

Indeed, after these two substandard results and with a trip to Ibrox on the horizon, Rodgers called a key meeting, according to Greg Taylor.

The Celtic left-back spoke to CeltsAreHere after trophy day: “I think the gaffer had a really important meeting after St. Johnstone at home”, he said.

“We didn’t play great, we drew 0-0, and some things probably weren’t clicking.

“We went into Ibrox and had a big result with half our team fit. The captain that day was outstanding that day and we got a big win then so that was an important moment in the season.

“I think in terms of quality of our performances, probably the last eight to ten games, it’s improved every week.

“It’s no coincidence we’ve had every player fit and when you’ve got your top players fit it definitely helps.”
