Celtic fans have been looking for any sort of update on Gorgios Giakoumakis after it was revealed the Celtic striker was struggling with an injury.

The SPFL title winner played during the second half of Celtic’s disappointing defeat in Paisley over a week ago before heading out to join his national team.

Gorgios had to go for a scan after feeling soreness during a training session with Greece. The scan itself went well; however, the issue hasn’t totally gone away.

Greece is scheduled to take on Northern Ireland this Tuesday before GG is released back to the club. While Gus Poyet hasn’t confirmed if the Celtic striker will play any part, the signs are his injury isn’t too bad.

Cited by The Herald, the Greece boss said: “50-50 forGiorgos Giakoumakisand Tasos Bakasetas to play tomorrow v Northern Ireland.”

If the Celtic star is 50/50 for Greece’s game, it means if Giak doesn’t play on Tuesday, he should be fine for Saturday when Celtic take on Motherwell.

What we don’t want to see is Gus taking a needless risk on the striker’s fitness. If he isn’t ready to go, GG should return to Celtic without having played any part in the NI game.
