Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke has declined a loan move to Malmo, choosing not to return to his homeland so soon after his transfer from Elfsborg, according to a report from Expressen.
Lagerbielke, who joined Celtic last summer for £3 million, has found it challenging to establish himself in the team, making only 10 appearances but notably scoring the winner in Celtic’s first home Champions League win in over a decade.
Despite participating in Celtic’s preseason tour in the United States, Lagerbielke has not been featured in the matchday squads for the first two Premiership games against Kilmarnock and Hibernian.
He’ll likely miss out on Celtic’s cup match at the weekend, too.
With the transfer window closing on August 30, his future at Celtic remains uncertain.
Interest from various Italian clubs suggests there might be movement in the next few weeks, offering Lagerbielke potential avenues to seek more regular first-team football.
It’s simply just not worked out at Celtic for him.
Would agree that Italy will possibly be the destination for the largerman imo?
Whether that’s a loan or permanent deal, doesn’t seem to really matter, especially as I would be very surprised if he was to play for ourselves again imo?
