CELTIC survived an early scare in the SPFL on Sunday to make it six wins out of six at the expense of Kilmarnock.

The bhoys went 1-0 down in the first half before upping the intensity and taking back control of the game.

A brace from Odsonne Edouard and a goal from Ryan Christie made it 3-1 on the day for Celtic but there was one man disappointed not to get on the scoresheet.

Ryan Christie’s goal was one of the easier goals he’ll score for Celtic with a tap in from a couple of yards out but it should’ve been James Forrest’s goal from a rare header. The midfielder rose to put it in the back of the net but the Killie goalkeeper scrambled to save the shot before the rebound was put in by Christie to give the wee man his tenth of the season.

Speaking after the game James was disappointed not to get a goal and to not score with his head after seeing his brother do it for Aye the day prior.

The Celtic winger would have loved to see it go in and was kicking himself for missing the opportunity. He revealed his teammates tried to make him feel better after the game.

“I reacted like that just because I don’t score many headers.” James told SunSport.

“I’ve only ever scored one, at Kilmarnock, but that was from about two yards out.

“My wee brother scored with a header on Saturday as well, so I was desperate for it to go in.

“The boys told me afterwards it was a brilliant save from the keeper — but I think they were trying to make me feel better.

“I must admit I was a wee bit gutted. My brother and I don’t score many headers.

“But I’m obviously delighted we scored the third goal because it gave us that wee cushion in the game.

“It came quite close after the second goal as well, so it was pretty important.”

James can be happy with his days work, the player setting up Edouard for the equaliser. It’s great to see how competitive the Celtic squad is with one another. The Celtic midfielder will be looking to get back among the goals in the coming games.
