Celtic have been linked with a move for Gyrano Kerk this summer after reportedly failing in a late bid to sign the midfielder back in January.

RecordSport report the bhoys tried to bring the player in from Utrecht but failed to meet his asking price.

Utrecht boss, van den Brom says there are no concrete bids for the player but Celtic were very interested back in January.

“At this moment there are no actual concrete offers for Gyrano, but Celtic were the club most interested.

“I suspect the coronavirus pandemic will put most transfers on hold just now, but I think the transfer window will be extended to September this year.

“And when that happens I think there will be a lot of interest in Gyrano again. We are expecting that.”

The 24-year-old can play either side of a front three. However, he’s contracted to his club until 2023 so he wouldn’t be going cheap.

Celtic have begun a clear out of their squad in anticipation for next season – due to circumstances we’re likely to see fewer squad players hanging around the fringe of the team.

Any players who are brought in this summer should be brought in so they can make an immediate impact. Neil Lennon alongside his scouting team will be making plans as we speak as we enter an extraordinary season.
