Are we starting to see the start of something coming from the FA headquarters this evening? When you watch clubs like Barca, Bayern, Juve etc all announce wage cuts of up to 70% you wonder when Scottish clubs will do the same.

With Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen already voicing concerns about the current lockdown and loss of income when will Celtic come into the equation? Neil Lennon said last night that no club was not going to be affected by the current loss of revenue but that the champions were in good shape for the next few months.

In the last hour, Sky Sports have just reported that changes have started in SFA headquarters.

Steve Clarke and the chief executive Ian Maxwell have taken a 10 per cent cut as all other national team coaches have also agreed to the same cut.

Half of the SFA staff have been put on furlough leave so all those staff affected will have 80 per cent of their wage paid by the government for at least the next two months.

Rod Petrie the SFA president said:

“I am grateful to our people for their efforts in adapting to these challenging and unprecedented times. The impact of the virus on Scottish football is significant and from the Scottish FA’s perspective alone, this has already resulted in the postponement of a sell-out match against Israel in the UEFA Nations League Play-Off and the Scottish Cup semi-finals and final at Hampden Park.”
