Hamilton have had to release a statement nine days out from when they’re scheduled to take on Celtic after it was revealed at least seven people at St Mirren have been confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Hamilton played the Paisley side in a friendly ahead of the new season and have been forced to come out with a statement about the current state of play of their own players.

The SPFL club say none of their players or staff who have been tested have come back positive.

The joint response SPFL group issued their own statement saying the routine COVID checks would go back to two times a week until further notice because of the outbreak in Paisley.

Celtic are scheduled to take on the Accies but this could be in doubt should any test come back positive in the next few days. A two week self quarantine for the players might have to be issued, highlighting the challenges we face this season to get football back.
