HARRY KEWELL’s job before Celtic was in the fifth tier of English football. The Celtic coach was sacked from his position at Barnet in September 2021 and was out of a job until joining Celtic in the summer.

He’s never been at a top club in a coaching capacity and has admitted he wasn’t sure what to expect.

It’s a big step up from the National League to Celtic, who have some top-class facilities. The Aussie coach has admitted he turned up with his own gear on his first day and was taken aback when he opened his locker to see some training clothes and boots there for him.

He’s even astounded at Celtic’s canteen.

He said; [The Scottish Sun]

“Being at Celtic now, it’s a whole different ball game. You’re working at the top level.

“I remember walking in on my first day and I bring my boots, my shorts, my training kit, everything.

“I walk into my locker and it was there – I had about ten piles of clothes. Brand new clothes, brand new boots. I was like ‘oh wow, I forgot this is what it’s like.’

“I’m didn’t have to bring a sandwich in – oh no, because we’ve got a canteen full of hot food, oh wow!

“It was amazing – you forget.”

Being a top winger himself, his experience should help the Celtic squad, especially with the Celtic team being relatively young. Postecoglou has been pleased with Kewell’s addition and is keen to mentor his fellow countryman.
