Harry Redknapp had backed Eddie Howe for Celtic if the deal goes ahead in the coming days.

The former Spurs boss believes the challenge of winning back the title and rebuilding a squad of players will be right up Howe’s street.

Since the speculation intensified, more and more supporters have been getting excited about the idea of the former Bournemouth boss coming in.

However, some shock jock pundits down south have claimed Eddie would be better at Crystal Palace or a lower league English side.

Redknapp is not of that opinion:

“I think it would be a great move for Eddie. We are talking about one of the major clubs in world football in my opinion. ” Redknapp told RecordSport.

“It would be a great opportunity for him to go up and try to get Celtic back to where they were a year ago.

“They’ve had a bad season unfortunately, Neil Lennon is a real legend at the club, but it’s been a bad year and to go up there and try and win the title back would be a great challenge for anybody.”

Celtic fans are waiting patiently to find out if Eddie Howe will be the next man in charge of the club.

It’s not just about hiring the man himself but meeting Eddie’s expectations before coming in to take over.

Celtic will have to move at a decent pace with renewal forms set to be sent out later this month.

Given we can’t get back into the stadium currently and ST holders have shelled out a lot of money this term for a TV pass, it’s going to be a tough enough sell without not knowing who the manager is going to be.
