It was a tough one to take on Tuesday night after Celtic started the game strongly and arguably the better side in the first forty-five minutes. But the team fell away in the second half, with some players getting slightly leggy.

Real Madrid’s resilience shone through, as it did so many times last year, and they managed to breach the Hoops’ defence three times. Still, the performance sent fans home happy and proud of their team; after all, we were up against the European champions.

Joe Hart took to Instagram, thanking fans for their support and the atmosphere they created. He promised that the team would learn from it as they strive to become Champions League regulars as preparation for Saturday gets underway.

Giakouamkis also posted on the platform where he described the ‘magical’ night.

Nothing was expected from the game; fans were optimistic and hoped we’d be able to surprise the visitors. I think we forgot just how good Real Madrid are; they’re European champions for a reason.
