JOHN HARTSON has tipped Scott Brown to sign a new deal at the club amidst heavy interest from new club Western Melbourne in recent months. The consortium have spoken about bringing the Celtic captain in after the end of this campaign and spoke last week of being ‘close’ to landing Brown.

However, former Celtic striker John Hartson just can’t see past Scott staying at Celtic for a little bit longer. The player turned pundit believes Scott will sign a new deal with the club and not only that but it may prove the catalyst for selling Olivier Ntcham if there’s genuine interest in the midfielder.

“He is settled in Edinburgh. He will play at Celtic. His relationship with Brendan Rodgers is water-tight. He has played the best football of his career under the Celtic manager and I think that ultimately when he weighs it all up that he will decide that he wants to stay and continue his 11-year association with the club.” Hartson told the Evening Times.

“They are in a race for the title and you need players of Brown’s ilk in there.

“I also think that if there is a genuine offer for Olivier Ntcham that, if Brown has offered an assurance that he is staying at the club, that Celtic might well allow the midfielder to go.”

There were reports last week about Porto coming back in for Olivier but it has gone all quiet on that front. The French midfielder is currently out with a hamstring injury he sustained in Dubai but should rejoin the bhoys next week.

If Brown does stay on for longer then something has to give in the midfield. One of our writers pointed out how overpopulated we have it in the middle of the pitch and attacking midfield positions.
