It was thought Celtic would start next season with a Director of Football in place, furthermore, it was believed Fergal Harkin would take up the position.

This turned out not to be the case, with Harkin opting to stay put within the City Group. This is despite rejecting a role at City Group club Lommel.

In Celtic’s announcement this morning, the club revealed Ange Postecoglou as ‘Football Manager’, to me, this indicated there may be no director of football coming in, as in most cases when working with a DoF the manager will be called ‘Head Coach’.

The interesting wording used contradicts what the club says to be striving towards – a ‘modern’ future.

This could mean Shaun Maloney will not be Director of Football but Ange’s number 2.

In a report by RecordSport is was said that Maloney was ‘lined up by Celtic as part of summer rebuild’ initially this was thought to be a role similar to Director of Football, but now it is looking likely that Maloney would join new manager Ange Postecoglou in the dugout next season – if he was to make a move.

    • I agree Jackie-i like what i’ve read about him and he needs big money as I reckon we need 10-12 new players in.
Also needs to get more out of last seasons flops McGregor, Ajeti, Barkas, Rogic and I’d get Elyounoussi back in on a permanent move
