CHRIS SUTTON states on BT Sports on Friday evening Celtic were very close to sealing a deal for left-back Birger Meling from Rosenborg.

However, we don’t know what his interpretation of close is but four days later the ‘deal’ and trail has gone cold on what looked like a promising bit of news for the Celtic support

There has been no word from Norway or the Celtic camp on a potential transfer. The reason we were so cautious about the rumours was because Rosenborg still have a legitimate shot of getting into the Champions League while Meling would be coming to Celtic where Europa football hasn’t even been secured yet.

If the deal is still going to happen then Meling would be ineligible to play in Celtic’s game against AIK. He would, however, be allowed to play in the group stage of the competition should the club get there.

  1. We shall soon find out if he did or not but look we need a LB and a RB a CH and a CF and move out all dead wood this window and i will be happy with that then when winter window opens we may add one or two more then that will be that for a season or two with all the younger players we have now they will be making a move to get in the squad and then push for first team game time that the top 14 players get and am sure they will push for places over the next two seasons…

  2. Sutton is talking bollocks , why indeed would the player give up the opportunity to play in champions league & move to Scotland to possibly play no European football attall ? Any decision on his future he would be right to put on hold until both play offs are decided
