PETER LAWWEL must have winced a little when he heard his manager say he needed at least two strikers in January as well as at least one defender.

However, has the Dundee game on Saturday given the Chief Executive every excuse not to back the manager’s plan when the window opens?

Celtic were without a recognised striker on Saturday but that did not faze them.

Rodgers showing faith in a teenage Mikey Johnston paid dividends for the Irishman who watched the young lad bag a brace and put in a man of the match performance.

Now, when Brendan sand Peter sit down to thrash out their January plans will Mikey Johnston’s emergence squash any hope of Rodgers getting all the players he wants?

Or will Mikey’s performance give the Celtic manager food for thought.

If Eddy is back fit, he brings in one more striker during the Winter window and with Johnston as an option up front, will he now opt to put the money elsewhere?

  1. What a load of pish. Of course players have to be purchased. To strengthen and make play easier on all the squad. Not a massive turn over needed. Sensible buy or loans are required. COYBIG.

  2. We possibly lose Boyata in January ,definitely lose Benkovic in summer ,have Griffiths out for an unspecified time , haven’t replaced Dembele hope to make inroads in Europe………?

Take nothing away from Mikey who will become a star for us in time , but the team needs experienced , proven quality and that means significant spending.
