Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis has praised teammate Josip Juranovic for allowing him to add another hat-trick to his early collection by passing the penalty duty over to the Greek striker.

It has been a brilliant few weeks for Giakoumakis, who has really found his feet in Glasgow, becoming somewhat of a scoring machine, notching his third hat-trick in as many games for the Hoops.

His third goal came via the penalty spot, and the 28-year old was full of praise for fellow teammate Josip Juranovic, who was on penalty duties but allowed Giakoumakis to step up and secure his trio of strikes.

“I’m really happy and most important, we won another important game, and we’re getting close to our target,” he said, speaking to the club’s website.

“We played a very good game; we played our game. We didn’t stop and played our style of play, and it was a complete game for us.

Juranovic was supposed to take the penalty, but he gave me the ball, and I scored the hat-trick. Afterwards, I celebrated with his celebration, and it was something really nice.”

Juranovic looked like the man who was going to step up in order to add Celtic’s fourth of the afternoon but passed the match ball to Giakoumakis.

It was a brilliant moment for the Greek internationalist, adding another goal to his tally but also being allowed to put the penalty nightmare against Livingston earlier in the season behind him.

It could be seen as the smallest of things, but it really does go to show the squad harmony and togetherness of this group of players, who will be looking to continue their fine run of form on the return from the international break.
