It has been over a week since reports of Celtic losing one of their top defensive prospects to the Bundesliga but there’s no sign of the player at Bayern and John Kennedy spoke last week of a deal NOT being done despite noises elsewhere.
SunSport among others reported last week that Celtic had lost a legal battle to hold onto Liam Morrison and the 16-year-old centre back had opted not to sign his first professional deal with Celtic in order to make the move to Germany.
Celtic’s assistant manager rubbished that suggestion and claimed talks were still ongoing.
“I know there’s been a discussion but we’re trying to sign Liam on a professional contract.” Kennedy told the Scotsman.
“There’s a lot of interest from elsewhere but nothing’s happened, nothing has been agreed, we’re still in the mix and we want to keep our players here.”
Over a week on from these comments and we are still unsure where the player’s future lies. There has been no word from the club either way and he’s yet to turn up in Germany.
Is there a last-ditch attempt to try and keep the defender at Celtic Park or are Liam and his family waiting for everything to be in place before he can properly make the move?
Not that it will mean a lot to Celtic fans at this stage but it’s imperative Celtic try and keep their top youth talent at the club to bring them through when the time is right. To lose Liam at this stage would be a body blow.
