WEST HAM’S official site has posted the latest speculation surrounding the hammers transfer activity in partnership with transfer mate.

The part of the article related to Celtic it states the following:

The recent run of wins in the Premier League has given the team some breathing space between themselves and the bottom three, as well as some welcome confidence, but I am told the Club’s ambitions are to finish in the top ten as a minimum.

My understanding is that the Board are committed to giving the Club the best-possible chance of achieving that target, and have allocated significant funds to bolstering the squad.

To that end, a bid of £20m – a figure close to the Club’s all-time transfer record – was submitted for a player from Scotland.

So have Celtic really rebuffed an offer of that magnitude?

Moussa only joined Celtic in the summer

Our guess would be NO. We believe West Ham wouldn’t start the bidding at this price, especially for anyone playing n Scotland, regardless of Moussa’s growing stature. We were aware of a Premier League team making an approach but as far as we’re concerned it hasn’t got to any formal bid stage.

Will that change?

Of course it could change, and the money talked about here fits into the narrative of what many see Moussa going for eventually. It’s highly unlikely that money will be offered at this point.

We must stress this rumour primarily comes from a transfer rumour site and not from an official West Ham source. Five days into the transfer market and we have our first whopper! Not bad.

  1. Brendan has already said that when Moussa does go it won’t be to an Epl lower league side, suggesting perhaps that he’ll be looking for more than £20 million for him.

Brendan has also said that any players sold will go for their true value.

    No more £12 million Wanyamas.
