PARTICK THISTLE boss and former Celtic defender Gary Caldwell has slammed Neil Lennon for his touchline antics and says he brings it on himself.
Speaking to BBC Sportsound, Caldwell believes his former teammates incites that sort of reaction by being unprofessional.
Neil Lennon played up the Hearts fans after they thought they had scored a late winner in the Edinburgh Derby only to see it chopped off.
“I think he brings a lot of it on himself.
“Whoever throws something from a stand should be ejected immediately but Neil Lennon was goading the fans as that goal got disallowed.
“As managers, coaches, players, we have to have a level of professionalism to not incite that and I think at times he does.”
Gary is not in Neil Lennon’s shoes and as the opposing manager at Tynecastle for Celtic and Hibs, the torrent of abuse he takes at games can be very challenging.
It’s not just your usual ‘football banter’, he is targeted by fans who want to be as nasty as possible to him.
It’s only human nature to get your own back sometime by playing up to the crowd if your team scores or there’s a major incident that goes your teams way.
To say he brings it on himself is poor; the man is not physically provoking anyone, nor is he getting in anyone’s face.
To say his actions warranted him being hit by something is absolutely ridiculous.
Well as a ex celtic player and manager he doesn’t slag Celtic off and he still speaks up for Celtic and he is a passionate about the game it’s ??
