Bologna sporting director Walter Sabatini has sent a clear message to Celtic in their pursuit of Aaron Hickey, insisting that the Scottish defender will ‘100% remain’ at the Serie A side.

The Hoops have been heavily linked with a move for the former Hearts fullback this summer, with reports suggesting a bid of around £3.5 million was placed on the 19-year old.

However, as quoted by Not The Old Firm, Sabatini has insisted that Hickey will remain with Bologna this summer as he looks to fend off interest from several clubs.

“Hickey is a Bologna player, and despite the interest of many clubs, he will 100% remain here.

“Last season was a short one for him because of injury but he has already shown us the great qualities he possesses as a player. Bologna are betting a lot on him, and he stays with us.”

After joining the Serie A side last summer, his career there started well but was hindered due to injuries and Covid as the season progressed.

The young defender has admitted, he is well aware of the interest from the Hoops but has kept his cards close to his chest as to whether a move will materialise or not.

It looks like the chances of that happening could be all but over, though, with Bologna singling their intent and a clear hands-off message to those interested.
