DANIEL STENDEL has told the media he plans to attack Celtic at Celtic Park on Wednesday night, going on the offensive in a bid to counteract the Scottish Champions.

Hearts beat Steven Gerrard’s men a few weeks back at home when they got in the Ibrox clubs faces and Celtic should expect a similar level of intensity from them at Celtic Park.

Stendel doesn’t want to be passive against a Celtic side who are scoring goals for fun in the hope they can be shut out. Instead, he wants to get among the goals and hope for the best.

Speaking to RecordSport the Hearts boss said:

“When you hope Celtic don’t score then you can be hoping for a long, long time,” he said.

“It’s difficult when you are only defending and hoping you get one or two chances. Every team would like to win but at first a lot of times teams just don’t want to lose – but we want to try to win!

“Look at the expectations. You follow the scores on a Saturday and look for the Celtic game: 0-0, 1-0 Celtic, 2-0 Celtic…in the end, it is always a Celtic win because every team expects to have no chance. We do expect to have a chance and we want to play our style against Celtic.”

It’s a bold strategy if he sticks to it.

Celtic have been unbeaten so far in 2020 but are taking nothing for granted. This is one of the toughest games of Celtic’s calendar, regardless of where Hearts are at the moment. It will be a cold wintry Scottish night in Glasgow. The team must be well-prepped to deal with Hearts who are starting to come onto a game.
