Adam Idah grabbed the spotlight during Celtic’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Hearts on Saturday night—not just for his goal but for his cheeky response to the Tynecastle crowd. The striker, who replaced Kyogo Furuhashi in the second half, endured a barrage of abuse while warming up as a substitute but had the perfect reply when he found the back of the net.

After scoring Celtic’s third goal to effectively seal the game, Idah wheeled away in celebration and turned his attention to the Hearts fans. Cupping his ear before delivering a pointed ‘shhh’ gesture, the 22-year-old made his feelings clear, sparking an angry reaction from the stands.

Reflecting on the moment post-match, Idah admitted the celebration was a direct response to the treatment he’d received from the home support.

“They were giving me a bit when I was warming up, so I thought I’d give a bit back,” Idah explained to SunSport. “I could probably buy all my Christmas presents with the amount of coins on the pitch. But it’s a bit of banter, and I was happy to celebrate in front of both sets of fans.”

The Irishman also expressed his delight at making an impact on the pitch:

“You want to make an impact. I was delighted to get the goals and three points. It was a good night overall.”

The Perfect Celtic Response

Idah’s gesture highlighted the fiery atmosphere at Tynecastle, where the home crowd were vocal from the outset. While his actions might not have won over the Hearts fans, Celtic supporters will have loved seeing one of their own take the opportunity to silence the home support.

The striker’s confidence and swagger come at an ideal time as Celtic look to maintain their grip on the top of the league table. With this latest performance, Idah is showing he has the mentality to thrive under pressure.

The icing on the cake was Adam scoring a late penalty to grab himself a brace.

Celtic’s second-half displaydemonstrated the squad’s ability to rise above distractions. While the first half was sluggish, the Bhoys were clinical after the break, with Kyogo and Nicolas Kuhn also getting on the scoresheet before Idah’s contribution.

For Idah, it was more than just a goal—it was a statement. And for the Hearts fans, it was a bitter pill to swallow.

  1. Bit of short memories when Laffurty would go straight to the celtic fans after scoring, he’d raise a clenched fist as high as possible, and with his other hand thump his chest on the left hand side of his chest.

A deliberate act to raise fury amongst the celtic support, at least Idahs celebration had no sectarian meaning to it.

  2. Good on Idah but the Scottish media will blame him but Tyne castle is sheer hatred I’m sure the club will get fined for it abd offcourse showing a sectarian murder on there screens that was no mistake vile club
