Since joining on transfer deadline day, it has been a bit of a difficult start for Greek striker Giorgos Giakomouakis.

The frontman signed from Dutch side VVV-Venlo as Ange Postecoglou looked to bolster his attacking options in the side. But so far, we are yet to see much of what the 26-year old is about due to fitness issues.

As quoted on the club’s website, Postecoglou revealed that he is pleased with the progress of Giakomouakis, who has been bu’He’ll Be Much Better Prepared’ – Ange Pleased With Progress Of Summer Signingilding up his fitness over the international break, and Ange now believes he is ready to make an impact.

“It was always going to take Giorgos a little bit of time, so I’ve really pleased that we’ve got this two weeks into him,” the Hoops boss said.

“I think he’s happier in himself that when he gets the opportunity now, he’ll be much better prepared to make an impact, and that’s why we brought him here – to make an impact.

“We really believe he’s got the attributes we need and, again, for me, it just makes the world of difference knowing that with him, Ajeti, Kyogo, Mikey Johnson back, Jota, Liel Abada, and James Forrest not far away, even on the bench tomorrow, we’ll have a couple of attacking players that I can throw on and help us with our momentum late in games, which we just haven’t been able to do before now.”

Some fans have been left a little frustrated at not being able to see more of the Greek striker, especially during the period when Kyogo Furuhashi was out injured.

However, with the lack of pre-season and picking up a slight injury issue of his own, it hasn’t been possible, and you imagine this will also frustrate both himself and Ange.

The international break seems to have come at the right time for several players in the squad to recover from injuries and regain fitness which has been a struggle for many of Ange Postecoglous squad in the early days of his reign as boss.

Fingers crossed from here; we are able to kickstart our season with more options coming back into the frame and giving the 56-year old a stronger squad to work with from here.
