Jack Hendry played 90 minutes and received a yellow card as Oostende drew 1-1 with Cercle Brugge, just missing out on a top 4 place.

While Marian Shved was a late sub for Mechelen, coming on in the final 5 minutes as they ran out 4-1 winners, securing a top 8 finish.

Today’s results bring an end to the regular season in Belgium.

The Belgian League can be a tad confusing with how its league system works, so here is my understanding of what they will have to face in the coming weeks

Both Jack Hendry and Marian Shved with Oostende & Mechelen finished within the top 8 meaning they are in with a shout of a European spot.

Oostende finishing 5th and Mechelen finishing 8th means they make up two of the four teams who will be a part of the Play-Off.

It means the four sides will face off against each other for a Europa Conference play-off spot with whoever finishes fifth place taking that home

There is a chance that 6th place gets a conference spot, in the event that Standard Liege win the Belgian Cup next weekend and also win the play-off mini-league.
