BRENDAN RODGERS has revealed he spoke to the players after a number of reports linked him with a move away from the club.

The Irishman let his frustration spill over last week when the club failed to land John McGinn and bemoaned the lack of activity from the board.

This gave way to mass hysteria, fueled by the mainstream media that he was looking for a way out of the club.

The Celtic manager firmly put that to bed after the Hearts defeat on Saturday but revealed he had a chat with the players to make sure they know he’s here for the long haul.

“I think that, despite the noise, it’s important that the players understand the real story.

“I never once said that I was quitting Celtic. What I said was we wanted the squad to be stronger.

“So, collectively, in terms of spirit, we’re fine.

“It’s just something that happens at this stage of the season of course. Like I say, we know we want to strengthen the squad.

  1. Rodgers let himself get suckered into saying if he’s not going forward he’s going g backward and if he’s going backwards he will quit. Two trebles and two CL group stages – we are unlikely to keep up that pace for another 3 seasons so the headline writers have already had their work done for them…
