CELTIC have a lot of players out on loan this season. There’s no reserve league so the need to find first-team opportunities for youth stars is massive.

Barry Coffey was sent over to Ireland into play for Cliftonville and by all accounts

The Celtic midfielder has started for the Irish side this evening and is looking to make a real impact before returning to Celtic. He even grabbed an unorthodox assist!

RecordSport reported back when Celtic first signed the youngster, they had beaten Manchester Utd to his signature.

Speaking to the Irish Times, Cliftonville manager, Paddy McLaughlin, reserved praise for his new recruits and claimed Barry has been excellent so far.

“All of our January signings have come in and taken the new surroundings in their stride.

“Barry Coffey came over from Celtic and he’s still finding his feet, but he’s been excellent.

“I think after Saturday people will now sit and up and take a bit of notice and we’ll be delighted if they do because the boys deserve it. But we know we can’t control what people do or don’t say about us.”

Celtic need an infusion of new signings and young players to step up next term. It has to be in the back of Barry’s mind.

Any Celtic youngster will be hoping now is the time to put their best foot forward and hope whoever is in charge is watching.
