JOHN HARTSON has admitted that Ange Postecoglou has proven him wrong throughout the season.

Arriving last summer, the club was in a state. Star players wanted to leave, the fans had fallen out with the board, and a new CEO was to take a seat at the table. Celtic had just missed out on 10-in-a-row, which brought out anger and frustration from the fans; however, some see this as a blessing in disguise a year on.

Postecoglou joined Celtic after the club missed out on Eddie Howe, fans knew not much about Ange, but they carried out their research and decided to back the manager.

After an incredibly tough start for the Aussie boss, he has a trophy in the cabinet and is still fighting in the Scottish Cup. His team sit top of the league, three points to the good with eight games to go.

As quoted by the West Australian, John Hartson has applauded Ange and his job in Glasgow’s East End.

“I think they have had an exceptional season. Ange Postecoglou has come in, been very humble, he understands it, he understands the fans and what the club is about.

“I go back to the start of the season – Celtic can’t win the league, it’s impossible to win the league in the state they were in.

“Ange has come in and changed everyone’s thinking. I will go on record and say if we hadn’t got Ange in, we wouldn’t be where we are now.

“I was one of the ignorant ones who said, ‘I don’t think he is a big enough name’. But boy has he stood up … he has the crowd in the palm of his hand right now”.

This season wasn’t supposed to be about winning trophies; it was supposed to close the Rangers’ gap.

Celtic are now favourites for the league, and it is all thanks to one man – Ange Postecoglou.
