CELTIC refused to sell Scott Allan to Hibs before the deadline according to reports which suggested the Easter Road side tabled a small bid to land the player before the summer.
Allan is surplus to requirements at Parkhead, and Brendan Rodgers spoke about getting rid of players because he had a bloated squad – however, the club didn’t play ball with Hibs.
The midfielder has signed a pre-contract agreement with the club to join them in the summer, but like many deals in January like Allan’s, the player will end up at the club sooner.

Was the breakdown between Hibs and Celtic in the summer the cause of the bhoys holding onto the player? The Edinburgh side dragged their feet over John McGinn before accepting a bid from Aston Villa which saw Peter Lawwell get a bloody nose in the summer window.
The more likely reason is Scott is on a sizeable wage at Celtic and will be taking a pay cut to re-join Hibernian. The player could be sitting on that wage in the summer with whatever Hibernian offered Celtic, not enough to cancel Scott’s contract with the club.
Surely Hibernian will not be happy with the outcome.
I suspect hibs didn’t meet Celtics valuation, and after the mcginn farce, Celtic have stood firm. They usually allow this type of player to go in the cheap, but Petrie has been a c()nt, so Celtic didn’t bend over to help.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Allan’s agent asked Celtic to make up the difference is lost earnings as well.
I’m glad, because ex players ALWAYS come back to haunt Celtic. I could see Allan scoring the goal that costs us the title.

If it was for McGinn then that is very petty by the club. Lets not forget hibs accepted the same offer from celtic as they did from villa. The player ultimately decided not to come. As for costs or coming back to haunt, I don’t get this. Surely loaning him back to hibs might actually have had some benefit. Couldn’t play v celtic but potential to take away points from rangers etc, also would slightly reduce his wages. Meh in end I don’t care that much though 😀
