It can’t be nice listening to people talk about who is about to fill the job you currently vacate. But everyone and their dog knows Neil Lennon will be leaving Edinburgh and that it is a matter of when and not if.
The story broke Friday night that Lennon had been suspended by Hibs. By Saturday morning the bookies had their favorites nominated. Emerging from that list is another ex-Celtic manager, Gordon Strachan.
Strachan has not managed another team since he resigned from his Scotland post in 2017. Alan Stubbs is another name who is hotly tipped to take over. Stubbs did, of course, manage the Edinburgh side already. He won them their first Scottish Cup trophy in 114 years back in the 2015/2016 season.
Lennon’s side has struggled this season. They currently sit in eighth position in the league table. Poor results bring pressure and that pressure is reported to have blown up at a team meeting on Thursday night.
Craig Levin came out yesterday to back Lennon and lend his support. Ironically it’s Hibs and Lennon that have taken the most points off Brendan Rodgers over the past couple of seasons.
