BEN DAVIES was hours away from becoming a Celtic player when out of nowhere, Liverpool came calling.

The Englishman was all set to sign a pre-contract deal with the Hoops when an injury ravaged Klopp side surveyed the defensive scene and grabbed the opportunity for a cheap short term fix.

For Davies, it’s an opportunity of a life time and he’ll hope he can prove people wrong he isn’t just a short term solution.

For Celtic, they will run with Stephen Welsh for the rest of the campaign most likely, which isn’t a bad thing.

Speaking about his love to Liverpool, Davies took to social media to explain the craziness of the transfer and that he couldn’t pass up the EPL Champs.

Celtic will have to bring in centre-backs this summer. It’s going to be a tough ask to find players who can hit the ground running for Champions League qualifiers.

As for Davies, would you bet against the lad ending up at Celtic on loan within the next two years?

  1. Better chance of Klopp coming to Celtic. Davis is gone, move on and use a Celtic U23 who had struggled to even make the bench last year. No disrespect to Welch.
Same auld excuses, same auld historic story. Short arms long pockets. Get in a manager with financial clout and huge hairy clangers.
