Kasper Høgh has opened up on hearing his name sung by the Celtic support after his hat-trick against Kilmarnock.
It was a huge turnaround from the opening game against Dundee, when Høgh left Celtic Park frustrated after passing up several good chances.
Against Kilmarnock, though, he made no mistake.
His first goal came early and settled him down straight away before he added another two before half-time.
The goals were enough to get the travelling support singing his name, although Høgh admitted he is still getting used to understanding exactly what is being shouted from the stands.
Speaking after the game, he said: (TCW), “I try to recognise it, but I’m not the best at Scottish. But I heard they shouted my name, so I smiled on the pitch when I heard it.”
It was a nice moment for a player who has only just arrived in Glasgow and is still settling into life at Celtic.
Høgh also spoke about the backing he felt throughout the game.
He added: “There’s massive support. On the pitch when I heard they were screaming and also when we scored the other goals, I was just so happy. And you could see it on the pitch.”
The 24-year-old looked full of confidence as the afternoon went on, with his movement causing Kilmarnock problems throughout.
He could easily have finished with more than three goals, but the hat-trick was still the perfect way to get his Celtic account properly up and running.
Høgh has already made clear that he wants to keep improving despite his strong start.
“You can always be better. There were more chances for me, so I have to go home and work harder, of course. I just have to do my best every day and work on it so I can play with the good guys on the pitch.”
For now, though, he can enjoy hearing his name from the stands — even if the Scottish accent is still taking a little getting used to.
