Honduras manager Reinaldo Ruena thinks the situation surrounding Luis Palma’s lack of game time at Celtic must be resolved.

The winger has failed to find any consistency in minutes at the start of the new season amidst a niggling injury and his teammates being too good to drop.

Palma’s campaign has started poorly, but Honduras still called him up this month.

He assisted in their recent 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago and will aim for a similar impact versus Jamaica in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

His international manager Reinaldo Ruena, though, thinks there is a key issue with Palma at Celtic which needs solving.

Speaking ahead of the Hondurans’ Nations League clash with the Reggae Boyz, Ruena shared his thoughts.

“It is not easy for him (Palma), me, you, and the fans,” he said (diez.hn).

“Palma has that extra weight for playing in a very glamourous league.

“But it is a reality, from February to September without playing five consecutive games is not easy for the player; the situation must be deciphered.”

Palma’s Inconsistency

Despite a purple patch towards the end of 2023, Palma has failed to find any real consistency since joining Celtic from Aris Thessaloniki last summer.

Granted, Daizen Maeda’s electric form hasn’t helped the 24-year-old’s cause, but he currently remains a fringe player who is limited to cameo appearances.

Palma will hope that changes as the Hoops’ schedule ramps up in the coming weeks. The domestic grind continues, but the Champions League will soon get underway.

The attacker was electric in the competition last term. Perhaps he can recapture such form as the brand-new league phase begins.
