NEIL LENNON has told Celtic fans things have gone wrong behind the scenes this season that the support aren’t and can’t be privy to.

The club’s first half of the season was a disaster and Celtic’s ten in a row dream went up in smoke. It left many wondering why the squad and the club, in general, could just fall off a cliff.

The manager has been fighting to stay in his job this term and now he’s letting it be known there’s more to things than meets the eye but he can’t tell us what those circumstances are.

“I don’t think it’s unfair or unrealistic but we have had mitigating circumstances throughout the course of the campaign, some of which I can’t divulge publicly.” Neil Lennon revealed to CelticTV.

“But I’ve never shied away from the fact that it’s been massively disappointing and we could and should have performed better. That’s on me, my staff and the football department as well.

“It’s not a popularity contest. It’s about playing good football and winning, bringing players to the club, developing them and selling them on, which is what I’ve done over the piece.

“The 10 was the Holy Grail, really, and it may be beyond us but we won’t give it up just yet.”

We’re heading into the back end of February, by early April, the season ticket renewals will start to be rolled out to the support.

There are many fans who will renew their season ticket without hesitation but there will be others who have felt the club have taken them for granted and will see how they deal with the aftermath of this season before committing.

With the current financial climate, a season ticket becomes more of a luxury than a necessity and the board should make sure they serve the fans to the best of their ability.

Neil Lennon still in a job come the summer will see some fans drop out.
