Celtic youngster Leo Hjelde has put his country 1-0 up against Portugal.

The two under 18 sides went head to head on Tuesday afternoon and the hot Celtic prospect has made the most of his start.

Leo is highly rated by Celtic and earned rave reviews by John Hughes during the player’s loan spell at Ross County last season.

The 17-year-old defender could make an impact for the Hoops as early as next season if the new manager sees the potential everyone else has been seeing to date.

Leo is a lad not short on confidence and could be a shining light next season as the club look to replace Kristoffer Ajer who has announced his intention to leave the club.

So many things are up in the air at the moment, but there is real opportunity for fringe players and youngsters to put themselves out there and be viewed with a fresh set of eyes.

Neil Lennon wasn’t a fan of utilising the young players in the squad in either spell at the club, hopefully the new man will mix experience with youth.
