Sondre Ørjasæter has revealed the lengths he went to be ready for a potential move to Celtic in the recent transfer window, with the Norwegian winger linked with a move to Paradise.

Celtic would, of course, opt instead for Jota from Rennes, a signing that no one would complain about. However, Ørjasæter made sure that whenever the call from Celtic came, no matter where he was, he would be ready to fly to Glasgow for a medical.

Sadly for Ørjasæter, it would not materialise, and he has opened up on his experience during the winter transfer window

He said: (TCW), “They were pretty brutal days for me in January. I struggled to sleep.

“I didn’t know if I was going to be in Norway or not. I could have moved at any moment. I had to carry my passport with me everywhere.

“Going abroad now is another level up. It had become more professional and everything. There were many thoughts going through my head during that period.

“If I get a little more time in Sarpsborg, I think I’ll mature and be ready for it eventually.”

It sounds like Ørjasæter wasn’t ready for a move to Celtic, and that’s fair for the 21-year-old to admit now.

Not many players are honest enough to admit that they weren’t ready. However, you can’t help but respect him for taking his passport with him everywhere.

Ørjasæter may join Celtic one day, but for now, he remains a Sarpsborg winger. However, with Brendan Rodgers recently revealing that after Daizen Maeda’s move, he believes Celtic need a new winger rather than a striker, Ørjasæter could be a perfect fit.
