Veteran Scottish football pundit, Hugh Keevins believes today could be painful for Celtic and as talks of projects coming in to build a culture at the club, High thinks the fans need to change their attitude of that is to happen.

Another defeat today and Celtic will yet again come at the club over when and how they plan to fix things. A win would give some hope for the future but not a lot considering the upheaval in personnel come the summer.

Keevins wrote in his RecordSport article:

Today is about the possibility of Celtic, and their fans, having to reset their ideas on the club’s internal structure, the way the team plays football and the supporters’ attitude towards building towards a better future.

The much talked about RB Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch, linked with the job of succeeding Neil Lennon, speaks of projects and building without being obsessed by results to begin with.

Celtic supporters would need to rid themselves of the urge to flood the car park and clash with police after losing a Betfred Cup tie to Ross County in that case.

Believing Celtic fans would show up after the first sign of trouble lacks a basic understanding of what happened this season and why ten years ago Celtic fans backed Neil Lennon.

Ten years ago when the Irishman lost the league, he had a young, exciting team fans could see were going places. A packed Celtic Park cheered on the manager as he addressed the crowd.

This time around, there was no building, no young exciting team. We had witnessed the opposite, a team of highly professional which had been dismantled by a manager who had no more ideas. The show shouldn’t have got to the first Ross County defeat but that should have been a watershed moment, instead, we were told to beat it and we now go into today’s game 20 points behind our rivals.

There’s no doubt Celtic fans have patience when they can see positive signs. It’s when there’s no hope, they act.

  1. Ah that’s very poor from Hugh. Awful really. The truth is the fans were right about Lennon, he should have been sacked months before the fans even turned up at the car park.
