CELTIC are closing in on K-League Striker Oh Hyeon-gyu as the club enters advanced talks with Suwon Samsung Bluewings with a deal close to being struck.

The player is keen to make a move to Scotland, asking his club to allow him to speak to the Scottish champions when he learned of their interest. The 21-year-old asked his club four times to allow him to make the transfer.

The Daily Record reports that Celtic will pay over €2.5m (£2.1m) for the player, whose salary will increase by ten times when he makes the move. The Korean club have conceded defeat, admitting they can’t compete with Celtic when it comes to the player’s salary.

Hyeon-gyu will likely replace Giakoumakis, who looks to be heading for the exit door this January. The Greek striker was missing from training and was left out of the matchday squad midweek, further adding to his exit rumours; however, manager Ange Postecoglou claims that the striker had picked up a knock.
