Yang’s Celtic teammate, Hyeongyu Oh, was also in the squad but remained on the bench throughout the encounter.
Notably, Jürgen Klinsmann had observed both Korean players during Celtic’s 1-0 victory over Rangers the previous weekend. Another Korean player, Kwon, was also part of the matchday squad at Ibrox.
For Yang, the past few months have been sensational for the player personally.
After being awarded the K-League Young Player of the Year, he secured a move to the Scottish champions and has now made his debut for the South Korean national team.
He looks to be a great, energetic player who is still a little bit rough round the edges. There’s no doubting the potential there, and he could turn into a great player for Celtic in the coming seasons.
