MATT O’RILEY has been asked to comment on the speculation surrounding a potential move to Leicester in the near future.

There has been some chatter former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester scouts have been keeping their eye on Matt since his move to Celtic in January.

The midfielder has taken to Celtic like a duck to water and has firmly put himself in a position to be an integral part of the first team squad this season.

However, the more success Celtic has and the better our players perform, there’s always going to be clubs with deeper pockets sniffing around.

Speaking to Danish outlet Bold , Matt confirmed he’s aware of Leicester’s interest: “I’ve heard a bit about the interest from Leicester, but it’s not something I’m thinking about right now. The transfer window is quite crazy with rumours and interest, but I am aware that Leicester quite like me.

“Right now though, I think Celtic is a good place to be. I have good friends around me, my relationship with the coach is good, and the fans are very special. I feel that Celtic is the perfect place for me, but of course it’s great to have interest, because it means I’m playing well.

“I also think that it is good for Celtic, because it shows that we have some good players over here. It just means we have to keep playing the way we do.”

Celtic fans will be hoping Matt sees his short to medium future at Celtic. We know as a club it’s in our business plan to buy players like Matt for a small fee and sell them on for a massive profit further down the line.

We can’t be precious when other teams look at our players. Our model is there for all to see and in some instances, it’s because of our model players choose to join the club. Knowing if they play well and win trophies, more lucrative deals are sure to follow.

I have the feeling Matt is going to have a stand out season for the bhoys in green.
