Celtic defender Auston Trusty has revealed the trust that he has in his teammates ahead of tomorrow’s game against Bayern Munich at Celtic Park.

Trusty, who joined Celtic in the summer from Sheffield United, has solidified himself at the heart of defence alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers, with the pair likely to start tomorrow night. The partnership made in the US has been vital to European success this season.

With a reported transfer fee of £6 million, Trusty faced pressure to impress from the outset.

After an underwhelming start against Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup in September, he has stepped up a gear in recent months, with tomorrow night looking to be one of the biggest games of his football career so far.

Having previously won the CONCACAF Nations League with the US in 2023, Trusty is relishing the opportunity to test himself against Bayern in the Champions League knockout playoffs tomorrow night.

He told CeltsAreHere: “I back this team with everything.

“When we are on it, when we play our game and we have the right mindset and we play as a collective, I truly back us against anybody.

“So it’s really up to us. As a little kid, growing up in Media, Pennsylvania, to hear you say that (playing in the knockout play-off), I would think you’re lying.”

It has been an unbelievable football journey for Trusty. Just three years ago, he was playing for Colorado Rapids in MLS; now, he’s a Champions League starter for Celtic.

With Cameron Carter-Vickers so often a reliable partner in defence, Trusty has learned from him this season how Celtic build from the back.

He has began to add that level of composure on the ball, and against Bayern, the pair will need to keep possession when looking to build attacks, as the German giants are renowned for their blistering counter-attacks.

Trusty hasn’t looked out of place in the Champions League this season, with his performance against Atalanta in Bergamo to secure a clean sheet being a real high for him as a player.

A similar performance will be required against Vincent Kompany’s side if the Hoops are to secure a positive result heading to the Allianz next week.
