It gets overly boring listening to English pundits constantly putting the boot into the Scottish game or Celtic in Europe. Today was the turn of ex-Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen.

The bite-sized pundit was quick to shoot down Celtic’s chances tomorrow in Budapest for the return leg against Ferencvaros. Celtic battered them a fortnight ago at Celtic Park and 2-0 didn’t tell the full story but we are not naive enough to think the away leg will play out the same way.

You know from Owen’s comments that he has just looked at results to form an opinion for his little Bet Victor earner and he’s watched about as much of Celtic this season as Donald Trump.

“Celtic played well in the home game against Ferencvaros, but routinely struggle on these away trips. “The Hoops have just one win from seven away trips in Europe and I can see another defeat here. I’m going for 1-0 to Ferencvaros.”

Shockingly, (I say sarcastically) he thinks his old buddy Steven Gerrard will fair much better on the road for their return leg with Brondby in Denmark.

“After winning 2-0 at Ibrox, Steven Gerrard’s men travel to Denmark for a vital game. “They were excellent when scoring six against Motherwell on Sunday, and I think they’ll get something from this. I’m going for 1-1.”

  1. He is merely stating facts based on recent history!
Our European record away from home isn’t exactly anything to excite us! The new club across the city do have a better away record in recent years.
No need to shoot the messenger for voicing his opinion!

  2. I think he’s probably right. However a defeat wouldn’t overly concern me. I think we should be 100% focussed on winning the title this season
