Ange POSTECOGLOU was good enough to sit down during his holiday in Greece to talk to another Australian media outlet about the season that’s just been wrapped up.

The Celtic manager can sit and take some time to reflect after what was a very hectic and emotionally draining season for him and the players.

When the manager first came to Celtic, there was not much talk about a Celtic title win, slowly but surely, it turned from a pipe dream into an inevitable reality as Ange’s Celtics side went on a 30+ game unbeaten run in the SPFL.

The reward for finishing top of the pile is an automatic place in the Champions League group stage where I’m sure the manager will fulfil a lifelong ambition by managing in the tournament.

Ange has already sampled the crazy nature of Celtic Park and what the stadium can to do opponents. His side blew away The Rangers back in February with a raucous Celtic support deafening on the night.

Asked about what the Champions League means to him and what he expects, the Hoops gaffer told SportsDay Australia he ‘cannot wait’.

“I was watching Liverpool/Real Madrid the other day…knowing my luck of the draw we’ll get one of them. We’ll get the big guns and I cannot wait.”

“People tell me the most special atmosphere you’ll ever get is a Champions League night at Celtic Park. I am looking forward to it, this is the level this club deserves and needs to be. There’s no better place for me to challenge myself.

Celtic will find out their opponents at the end of August — the Hoops will be in pot 4 so there is plenty of formidable opposition in each pot before us. Knowing Celtic’s luck, we’ll land a champions from each pot.

  1. We want to face the biggest clubs. We tend to get a bit over optimistic when we’re drawn against teams with lesser names(though there’s not much chance of that in the CL) and it comes back to bite us time and again; at least against the big guns we know where we stand, the excitement leading up to the fixture is epic, and when we do get results it makes it all the more enjoyable!
