FORMER DUNDEE manager James McPake has revealed some of Ange Postecoglou’s class comments when the sides met.

The young manager revealed he was ‘humbled’ by Ange Postecoglou’s gesture, telling they had deep conversations that lasted half an hour. This is despite Celtic firing ten goals past his side over the two games he managed this season.

Speaking to The Go Radio Football Show, McPake said;

“Apart from taking six points from from my time at Dundee as a manager it’s actually been a humbling experience on my behalf.

“It’s been fantastic. I think he’s got real time, I don’t think it’s fake.

“It came out the other week, at the time, after the first game he come up to me and said, ‘Well done on the promotion at such a young age‘,  and then you’ll always have that.

“Thinking someone’s told him that, he’s no idea who I am after they had beat us at Celtic Park.

“That was probably one of the first games or second game where they played the Angeball they were all talking about. Where they were playing great and playing that that quick slick way.

“But after the game at Dens, we had a chat for maybe half an hour and he was great, and just coming up and basically showing an interest.

“And it was good. But Ange? He was fantastic.

“Even when I was in the job he was saying, ‘What are you doing in your training week?’

“He’s a manager at Celtic, no disrespect, Celtic are way up here and for him to show an interest in what we were doing in a working week.

“And obviously we had Leigh Griffiths at the time so he was asking about Leigh as well and how he was doing and asking what are your days off? What your plans over the international break etc.? Make sure you have a couple of days off, take time yourself.

“So you know what, he didn’t need to do that. He didn’t owe me anything.”

Every manager has their own story about Postecoglou. He always seems to engage with the managers and shows them respect, even if they manage a smaller club.

It’s clear that the other managers respect the Aussie; even the Ibrox gaffer wanted to chat with him before they had met on the touchline.

Having only been in the Scottish game for under a year, Postecoglou has already sent shockwaves through the league.

This insight into Ange the ‘man’ speaks volumes for his character, showing he’s a genuinely decent bloke.
