CHRIS SUTTON says he HOPES to see Celtic go back in for Patrick Roberts and step up their recruitment now the EPL transfer window is closed.

With the Premier League big spenders out of the equation but still able to sell and loan players out to other leagues it could be the best time for the club to act on new transfers.

One fan asked Chris if he thought Paddy would come for a third stint at Celtic Park after returning to City this summer. His response:

Roberts said he wanted to try his hand in the English league but due to failing to agree terms with Leicester and reportedly refusing a Huddersfield deal – the midfielder is still on the lookout for a new club but cannot be transferred to any other Premier League or even Championship side.

Celtic could be tempted to try their luck again. It was only last summer Celtic had a permanent deal for Paddy on the table but Manchester City didn’t want to sell him at the time.

This time around, they could get him for lower than the £14million price tag which was attached to the tricky winger last term. £8-9million may be enough to land the Englishman on a permanent deal.

With the club faltering in this transfer window, it would go a long way if they can procure some quality signings in the coming weeks.

Although will it be too late for Champions League football?

  1. Be honest as a Celtic fan I’m less worried that we sign anyone new, than I would be if I was a rangers supporter at being broke by Christams or so unable to pay our wage bill by all the additional signings !

  2. I think we need a right back and a central defender, but wee Pat would be welcome he’s better than James Forrest. He takes more punishment and comes back for more, James fades out the game if it gets rough
